Our 2025 conference and awards welcomed over 190 attendees with an incredible list of speakers, members, sponsors and award winners. We looked to the future, examining how we could take advantage of the more prosperous times to come. Trucking businesses had faced challenging times recently, but there were signs of hope and opportunity emerging across the economic, regulatory and political fronts.

Speaker Summary

Highlighting the day was keynote speaker Professor Arnold Dix. Renowned for his heroic rescue of 41 trapped miners in India—Arnold shared an incredible message of resilience and hope in the face of potential tragedy. We also heard from NSW ministers Jenny Aitchison and John Graham on the current government plans and priorities, along with Sally Webb from Transport for NSW and Andrew Hollier from iCare answering some tough questions from attendees. Speakers from our major sponsors like Shell, NTI, Traild, FreightTracker and Teletrac Navman also spoke on how their businesses could help our members.

Members were treated to a round table discussion hosted by Ann Lopez on the unique challenges operators faced in the current climate while Chairman Austin Vella hosted Paul Alsbury from the NHVR for a fireside chat.

Outstanding Contribution to the NSW Trucking Industry

Max Luff has dedicated more than 60 years to the transport and logistics industry, starting as a casual driver before founding Border Express in 1981 and building it into one of Australia’s largest family-owned national express transport companies with a strong regional and capital city network. His leadership is marked by integrity, community commitment and a belief in 100 per cent dedication. Widely regarded as a true gentleman of transport, Max has also championed ethical leadership, community engagement and the promotion of women in the industry, leaving a lasting impact on the Australian transport sector.
