On behalf of Road Freight NSW, our board lead by Chairman Austin Vella, members and partners I want to extend our deepest condolences to the Bondi community, the Jewish community, and to all those who have been impacted by the horrific attack in Bondi on Sunday.
Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, friends and loved ones during this deeply distressing time. Acts of violence such as this shock us all and cut at the heart of what we value as Australians.
Bondi is not just an iconic part of Sydney — it is a close-knit, diverse and resilient community. Many in our industry live, work, deliver and serve the Bondi area every day. The sense of loss and grief being felt there is shared well beyond its borders.
Road freight operators and truckies understand community. You operate in every suburb, every town, every day — often unseen, but always essential. In moments like this, the strength of our society is reflected in people standing together across backgrounds, faiths and industries.
We also acknowledge the extraordinary courage and selflessness shown by bystanders and first responders like NSW Police and Ambulance, whose actions under unimaginable pressure represent the very best of our community and emergency services.
Violence, hatred and extremism have no place in Australia. Our industry is built on respect, egalitarianism, inclusion and looking out for one another — values that are stronger than fear and division.
Road Freight NSW stands in solidarity with the Bondi community and with all those affected. We encourage members to take care of yourselves, your staff and your families, and to support one another during this difficult period.
